March Favourites

As it is the end of the month, I thought I would share with you all my favourite products of the month! I have done a Youtube video as well on these products, so if you would prefer to watch/listen to me, scroll down to the bottom and you will find a link! I haven't included photos for the products, but they are all shown in the video.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation
I've been reaching for this foundation a lot recently. I find it is light enough so you don't feel as though the foundation is caking me, but full coverage enough that it won't have rubbed off at the end of the day. I use 2 pumps of the product, and I really like it! It has no SPF in it, so I often use it for nights out. Although I do tend to use 2 layers for nights out, as I do prefer a more full coverage look. This foundation is everything that Estée Lauder Double Wear isn't for me.

NARS Albatross Highlighter
I've only had this highlighter a few days but I already love it. I had been put off it for so long, thinking that it was just a white highlighter but was pleasantly surprised to find this beautiful golden sparkle looking at me when I swatched it. It really complements my blonde hair and I am looking forward to getting more use out of it.

MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
I am really loving this paint pot as it gives me the perfect blank canvas to work with on my eyes. I have a few veins around my eyelid area and this conceals them perfectly. I have also been wearing a lot of eyeliner recently, without shadow, and I find this paint pot is perfect for it. It keeps the eyeliner in place all day whilst also giving you the perfect smooth eyelid effect.

Benefit They're Real Push-up Liner
This eyeliner is perfect for anyone who struggles with eyeliner (myself included). The applicator is really easy to use, you can create thick and thin lines as well as wonderful flicks. The formula itself is awesome, it lasts all day and does not budge. You need good eye makeup remover to clean it off, a wipe is not enough! Which for me, goes to show how good and long lasting the product is.

Makeup Revolution Iconic 3 Palette
I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I love this palette. The colours are so beyond pigmented and the fact that it's only £4 is remarkable. I've been using this to try and incorporate more day time pink looks into my life and it has worked a treat. I originally bought this to see if I liked the pink shadows before investing in Urban Decay's Naked 3 (as it is a dupe for it) but now I don't feel like I even need the Urban Decay palette as this one is so good!

Clinique Take the Day Off for Lids, Lashes and Lips
This is my all time favourite eye makeup remover. It feels amazing on the skin and eyes and takes my makeup off wonderfully. This does not sting my eyes, as many other makeup removers do. It feels slightly greasy but in a good way.

MAC Lip Prep & Prime
I've been using this a lot recently, due to the fact that I've been on a huge lipstick hype. This product creates a barrier between my lips and the lipstick, stopping the lipsticks from drying my lips out. It is also quite moisturising which I really like. I definitely could not wear a matte lipstick without this underneath now!

MAC Toledo Lipstick in Barbecue
This is such a fab colour and I'm upset that it's limited edition! It's the perfect orange red and can be worn with anything. I also love the packaging. Check out my instagram for a photo of me wearing it!

Makeup Revolution F105 Contour Brush
This brush is so cheap (£3?!) and it is perfect. It's incredibly soft and the shape is perfecting for sculpting out my cheek bones. It picks up the right amount of product and distributes it wonderfully.

Thank you for reading and let me know if you like these products as well! Happy end of March everyone. xxxxx

10 Time Saving Makeup Tips

If you're constantly late and need some quick tips for making that rush a little less stressful or just looking for ways to speed up the process, keep on reading!

1. Don't bother putting on makeup
Gurl, you beautiful the way you are.

2. Pick out your products first
By picking them all out at the beginning, you save time between each stage looking for what you want next. To save even more time in the morning, you could even try doing this the night before.

3. Just stick to mascara
If you are to choose one product, choose this one. It opens your eyes and instantly brightens up your face.

4. Do your lipstick on the go
I do this all the time. For example, waiting for the lift or walking down corridors, streets etc. If you're wearing nude lip colours I would definitely recommend this but perhaps not for bright or bold lip colours. You can always use your phone camera to help you or window reflections.

5. Do mascara/brows first
If you run out of time, this combo would look much more normal than just a face base. I know I look like a complete alien with just foundation on, especially as it can cling on to your lashes/brows.

6. Get your brows tinted and shaped
You can get home kits for these as well. This can cut out time by a tenfold because, well, you don't have to do anything to your brows!

7. Get a lash tint and perm
This may not be for everyone. I've never had a perm but I have had a tint and I love it. Again, for obvious reasons, it means you don't have to do your mascara!

8. Skincare
Invest in good skincare products to keep your skin nice and clear. Not only will give you a nicer base to work with, but it means you don't have to cover up any blemishes. Also, if you feel like you have clear skin, you may not bother with foundation at all!

9. Use multipurpose products
While putting on your bronzer, why not put it in the crease? I've also seen a few lip products that double up as blushers as well. Or to save money, just use a lipstick you already own!

10. High coverage foundation
If you tend to need to touch up your makeup throughout the day, then I would advise you to use a full coverage foundation. Although you don't save time in the morning, you do save time during the day. Estée Lauder Double Wear is an excellent foundation for this as it doesn't budge at all. But if you're looking for something cheaper, try Revlon Colorstay.

Mother's Day Gift Guide

As Mother's Day is approaching, I thought I would share with you some of my ideas for Mother's Day. The obvious choice would be chocolate and flowers (which, by the way, are fab gifts) but if you want a little bit more inspiration, look no further.

Beauty Gifts
As this is primarily a beauty blog, I will start with the most obvious! Although anti-age type creams may be in a gift set - I would strongly advise against buying it. No one wants a kick in the teeth and no one wants to receive an anti-aging gift.

Lipstick
Lipsticks are really easy products to buy and are loved by all. Although I am a fan of Mac lipsticks, I would recommend going for a different brand for a (presumably) older loved one. I love the Dior and Estée Lauder lipsticks, and I know my Mum does too. Avoid matte consistencies, go for sheer or creamy consistencies and choose a more wearable colour, think nude pinks and reds (unless your Mum is often seen wearing really bold lips of course!). Clinique's Chubby Sticks are also really wearable and easy to use. Debenhams is a great place to have a look for products like these. If you are planning to buy it in person and are stuck on a colour, ask one of the wonderful people who work behind the counters. http://www.debenhams.com. For a smaller budget, have a look at Rimmel, Sleek and Makeup Revolution. All found at Superdrug http://www.superdrug.com

Perfume
Chances are your loved one already has a favourite perfume and perhaps a "signature scent", so I would ask her what her favourite perfume is and to just repurchase that one. It seems like a bit of a cop out but it's likely that she was planning on repurchase it in the future, so it saves her the time and money and also you get to give a gift that you know she likes!

Bath Products
I've put the header Bath products but what I really mean is get her awesome bath bombs and delicious nice smelling things from Lush, not just some run of the mill bubble bath. The bath bombs start at prices as low as £1.95 and can be knot-wrapped for you, to add that little bit extra. https://www.lush.co.uk

Photo Gifts
These gifts are definitely one of the best gifts to give a loved one. They are relatively fail safe and can be inexpensive. With all of the technology online, it is easy to order prints online or to even create gifts with your photo printed on it.
You can create your own photo albums here or you can simply order prints. You can also get your favourite picture of you and your loved one onto a mug or even a teddy bear.
Boots is well known for its picture services, but it definitely deserves credit for its inexpensive frames and photo albums. I would advise getting your Boots gifts in-store because you will have to pay separately for delivery for prints and albums/frames. All you have to do is take in a memory card and pop into their printing machines and it will print within seconds!
This is one of my favourite shops, and I currently have 3 of their photo frames above my desk. They have really cute and pretty designs, yet they also have some really elegant and chic pieces. They sell both photo albums and frames. Unfortunately you will have to source prints out through another website.
As for more traditional frames and styles, I would opt for Matalan, Next, John Lewis and Laura Ashley. These are in order for price and quality of the products they sell. These shops also sell collage photo frames.
This is such a fab online store, you can find pretty much anything you want on here, whilst helping out small businesses! They sell photo albums and frames, and you can even get them personalised. I have found which I thought was a really nice idea was a Scrapbook personalised for a mother. (http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/hannahlloyd/product/mum-s-memory-book-envelope-album

All of those websites have sections designated for Mother's Day, so even if you don't want to get your loved one a photo based gift, I am sure you will find some nice things which tailor each budget.

DVDs
As Mother's Day always falls on a Sunday, I have included a few films that are perfect for a Sunday afternoon that can also be doubled up as gifts. Obviously, if your loved one has a preference in films, I would advise you to choose a film that is more suited to their tastes. These are just some films that I like and I think my Mum would like as well.
  • Titanic
  • Marley and Me
  • My Sisters Keeper
  • The Help
  • Breakfast at Tiffany's
  • When Harry Met Sally
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Meet the Parents
  • A Beautiful Mind
  • Pretty Woman
  • The Grand Budapest Hotel
  • Mamma Mia!
  • Forrest Gump
  • About a Boy
  • Billy Elliot
  • Thelma & Louise

CDs are also a good choice. Again, I would advise you choosing a CD based on her tastes. A good idea would be to get a new release of a band or artist you know she likes. If you have no idea, I would stick to the classic young male singer! Think Olly Murs and Sam Smith.

Amazon is of course a good place to buy CDs and DVDs.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this and I hope it has been helpful and informative! Please feel free to comment on ideas you have and your thoughts on the blogpost.

Happy Mother's Day!

5 Beauty Hacks

Hi guys, here are my 5 tips of the day that help me with my beauty regime, hope they help and let me know what you think!

1. Use shampoo and conditioner to wash your makeup brushes
I've been doing this for years and it works well for me. If I'm being lazy I will even take them into the shower with me.

2. Looking down into a mirror to do your mascara
I think I got this from Lauren Curtis in one of her videos and it has helped me so much. I get hardly any mascara on my lid now because of it! So keep your head in the normal position and then look down into a mirror.

3. Wipe off mascara off the eyelid straight away with a cotton bud
I find this works much better than waiting for it to dry, especially if I have eyeshadow on. It comes straight off when wet, I find when it's dry it can really hurt to get it off and can take off a lot eyeshadow with it.

4. Heating up your eyelash curlers with a hairdryer
This works unbelievably well. I would recommend doing this before putting mascara on and for those who have really straight lashes. I sometimes curl my lashes between layers of mascara and the heat can sort of melt the mascara, so I would not advise doing it between layers.

5. Put moisturiser in dried out mascaras
My Mum gave me this tip when I was quite young. Just a drop of any moisturiser works really well and keeps your mascara going for that little bit longer!

That's my top 5 for the time being, if anyone has any other tricks please do comment as I would love to hear about them!
