G Beauty: Slim & Sublime Body Shake Review

If you follow me on Snapchat, you may have noticed me drinking a lot of shakes for a week in August. That's because I was reviewing the Body Shake from Slim Sublime!

Slim Sublime is a UK based company that promotes healthy well-being and an active lifestyle. They have a really popular Teadox line that you may have seen floating around the interwebs. I was asked to review their products, and I chose the Body Shake meal replacement shakes. They were even kind enough to send me a pretty shaker!

The Body Shakes compromise of a balance of carbs, protein and essential nutrients - perfect for a meal replacement. They have 310 calories per shake. The shakes come in two flavours; Strawberry or Chocolate Cookie. I chose Chocolate Cookie, mostly because I have a mild chocolate addiction.

I was told for maximum weight loss results, I should replace two of my meals with the shake and have one healthy 600 calorie meal a day. The Body Shake has around 15 shakes in it, at £25.99, it works out to be £1.73 a shake. As far as meals go, it's not too expensive. But with my code - GWENI20, the shakes work out to be £1.39 each. (Smooth Gweni, smooth).

For a week, I replaced breakfast and dinner with the shakes and having one normal meal at lunch time. I probably didn't stick to the 600 calorie meal as well as I should have been, but I've been trying to make it relatively healthy.

The shakes themselves are actually really tasty, much nicer than the beetroot shakes I used to have when I was at Shapeshifters. I wouldn't go as far as saying it tastes like chocolate milkshake, but it's a worthy substitute! You can have it with either milk or water, but I preferred the taste with water. There is a scoop in the tub, which makes measuring it really easy. Just fill your shaker up to 300ml with water, add a scoop and shake. Simples. It is a pretty thick consistency and leaves you feeling full.

As I had a lot of waitressing/bar shifts on the week I was reviewing it, the shakes were a really great way of keeping on top of my calorie intake and actually eating properly! Shift work can be a real nightmare with food, having the shakes was very handy. Top tip: put your shakes in the fridge, they taste even nicer when cooled.

As I was on my feet a lot, looking at food, I found myself craving actual food a lot. I didn't realise how much I would miss the concept of solid food! Wasn't a big deal, it just made it harder to take delicious food out to customers. This got much easier throughout the week and the cravings for solid foods had pretty much disappeared by the end.

In general, I was pretty full after having the shake, but I would get hungry a few hours later. I left it a little bit too long after the shake to go to the gym one day, something I would definitely not recommend! With going to the gym, definitely go 1-2 hours after eating. Otherwise you end up quite lightheaded at the gym. Aside from that, I did not struggle too much with having less food in my body.

This review came at a really good time for me. I had been eating far too much chocolate beforehand and was heading off on holiday the following week. I had already lost a pound by the fourth day!

I ended up losing 2 pounds in one week. As I am only a small person, losing two pounds in one week is actually quite a lot for me. Not to worry though, I'm 5ft so being under 8 stone is healthy! I'm definitely happy with the results. I found that the shakes were very useful to me, as it meant I didn't have to worry about eating on my awkward working hours. I shifted that chocolate weight that was creeping up on me, and I felt really good about it. I was even back in crop tops by the last day!

One other thing that I really like about the product, is its aesthetic. I am pretty obsessed with pink, so I was very much a fan of the packaging and the shaker. The shaker was really easy to use, very portable and can be used independently of the Body Shake. I still use the shaker for protein shakes.

If you're looking to drop a couple of pounds in a small timeframe, want a quick and easy meal replacement or just want a tasty shake - I would 100% recommend the Body Shake. I'm already debating buying another tub! £20 for 2/3 meals a day for a week is hardly breaking the bank. I have been very impressed with Slim Sublime and am very happy with my results!

Favourite Trich Bloggers

Trichotillomania Bloggers
As a pretty keen advocate for spreading awareness for Trichotillomania, I've come across a few trich bloggers myself and wanted to share the love for them today! All three of these ladies have been extremely supportive of my blog, trich and general internet presence - thank you.

Trichotillomania Bloggers

It's no secret that me and Sophie are baes, and I was even lucky enough to meet her this February. She is a genuinely lovely girl and we clicked as soon as we met, probably because we have so much in common. Both of us have studied law, myself as my main degree and Sophie as a conversion and we both pull out our eyelashes and eyebrows, although Sophie has been pulling longer than I have.

I personally find her posts on Trichotillomania very insightful and helpful, probably because our trich is so similar. I really didn't want to try the Benefit Rollerlash, as I haven't been impressed with previous Benefit mascaras, but decided to give it a go because of Sophie. The Rollerlash is now my favourite mascara to deal with my trich! Not only are her posts on beauty for Trichotillomania great, but she also writes about the mental/physical ways to deal with the disorder. Her post on all of the different treatments was really good for those exploring options. She's always very honest and open about her hair pulling, something I very much appreciate about her and her blog.

Here are some of my favourite posts from Sophie:

You can check out all of her posts on trich under her Trichotillomania tab.

Charlotte at Char Nicole Lucas

Charlotte is a blogger that I didn't realise had trich for a long time, but has recently come out of the woodwork and I have really been enjoying following her blog about trich. Charlotte has a different kind of trich to me, she pulls out her hair, and writes a lot of posts about the difficult, mental sides of dealing with the disorder.

Although she does write advice posts, Charlotte writes a lot more about her experiences with the disorder than I do. As the disorder can be extremely belittling, tiresome and down right hard - reading someone else's experiences and struggles can make you feel less alone. Her writing is honest and emotional, again something that I very much value and appreciate as a fellow trichster.

Here are some of my favourite posts from Charlotte:

Or like Sophie, you can click on her Trichotillomania tab for all her trich-related posts.

Trichotillomania Bloggers
Lindsey at Pulling Thru

Lindsey, behind Pulling Thru, pulls out her eyelashes and eyebrows and has decided to take it upon herself to create a website to help fellow hair-pullers. She writes a lot of her own advice, general how-to's with makeup as well as practical advice. But Lindsey also gathers external advice, whether it be blogposts or YouTube videos, and puts this all on the website as well. She aims for Pulling Thru to be the No 1 resource for Trich, by providing as much advice as possible in one place. It was all thanks to Lindsey that my eyelashes stayed on all Summer, with her recommendation for Revlon lash glue.

It makes me so happy to see someone being so proactive about trich, a willingness to help others to this extent is enviable. Her website is well designed and easy to navigate - I would not be surprised if she was a graphic designer. She's been extremely supportive of my blog, by the constant social media love and share of my links on her site. She seems so lovely, I would recommend anyone with Trichotillomania to check out her site.

Here are some of my favourite posts by Lindsey:

It goes without saying that I appreciate other bloggers who write about Trichotillomania, but these are the three that I've resonated with and become friends with via the internet. I really appreciate their support on my blog and wanted to share the love back! All three of them have been wonderful at spreading awareness and helped me during some of my darker times. It's amazing just how much knowing you're not the only one suffering helps with those times.

Benefit Cosmetics KA Brow Review

As a self-confessed benebabe, of course I had to get my hands on some of their new brow range. I'm a huge fan of pretty much everything in Benefit, I wear Hoola and Dandelion every day along with my favourite Stay Don't Stray Primer. I love the Porefessional and even get my brows tinted and waxed at the Brow Bar (usually the John Lewis in Birmingham). I guess you could say that I quite like Benefit.

One of the things I really admire about Benefit as a company is their design and marketing. I love the bright colours, the positivity and the general pink vibe. They did not disappoint with the brow range at all! I love the silver, magic theme to the range and how they've brought out new products as well as repackaging the old. I love Gimme Brow so I was excited to try the KA Brow. I choose the product in 03 Medium.

I was quite surprised at the size of the pot, I thought it was going to be bigger than it was. However, I have found that I don't need to use a lot in one go, so the pot hasn't gone down much since I was bought it in June. The pot comes with a little angled brush, which makes it great for travelling but I've found the brush to be a little too small and fiddly for a day-to-day basis. I prefer using just a boring, standard angled brush. The brush does need a bit more of a regular wash than other brushes, making it less appealing to the lazier people of the world!

With applying the product, you get a lot out of a little. It is very pigmented and applies easily to the brow. I tend to use stroke type motions to apply to the product and that works fine. I always have to brush through my brows before, during and afterwards to keep the hairs in place. I like using the product to create really bold brows, as the product is very pigmented and I can create some sharp lines with it. For a softer look, I tend to add a little bit of brow powder on top. I've found it really useful to cover up some sparse areas in my brows as well.

I haven't really tested it to see if it's waterproof, but it definitely does last the standard day. I prefer to use it when I'm doing heavier makeup, and tend to avoid it if I just want a tiny amount of product in my brows to give them some shape. It is advertised as being build-able, but I haven't really found that. I have found that it gives me pretty bold brows straight away! But perhaps the lighter colours would be better for build-able use.

All in all, I really like this product. As it is Benefit, it does carry a heftier price tag than the average high street brow product. I haven't tried any high street equivalents, but I would be surprised if the KA Brow would be much better than any dupe. It's a good product, but I highly doubt you wouldn't be able to find something as good but for the fraction of the price. But, I'm a massive sucker for Benefit and high end makeup! I really like it and would recommend it to anyone who was wanting to splash the cash on a cream gel brow product.

Have you used the KA Brow? What did you think?
