Eness Cosmetics, Birmingham

At the start of August I attended a blogger event at the Eness Cosmetics store in Birmingham. I am a huge fan of blogger events, I wish I could attend more! The store is situated just off New Street, by Jack Wills, making it very central and very close to Grand Central station.

Eness prides itself on its vegan, cruelty-free and natural ingredients. Although I am nowhere near vegan, I do prefer to buy products that are cruelty-free and I am always conscious of the products that I am buying. I do think its great to see new companies adopting this stance.

The family behind the company are from South Africa and this has influenced their choice of ingredients in the products. Apparently a lot of the products made and used in South Africa use natural/organic ingredients, much more than us in the UK! I had no idea about this.

The store has been there for about a year and they are currently going through a rebrand of their products. The Cocoa Butter and Olive & Avocado range is in the new packaging, shown in the photos. I really like the design and the packaging, I think it looks really pretty and would look nice as statement products in a bathroom. My Mum has decorated the spare bedroom/bathroom cream and green and the products really suit the decor!

I was given a few bits from both of the new ranges and I have to admit that the Olive & Avocado is my favourite! The Cocoa Butter range smells beautiful but it is not usually my choice of scent, where as the Olive & Avocado is right down my street! The Cocoa Butter is as you can imagine, very sweet. The Olive & Avocado is much more subtle, a very fresh smell that is perfect for Spring and Summer.

The Olive & Avocado Moisture Lotion (£12.00) has a lovely consistency to it, it's quite thin and absorbs really quickly and leaves your skin feeling really soft. The Body Oil (£12.50 for full size) is probably my favourite. It is not at all sticky, as I thought it may be, and again absorbs really quickly. I really like applying this after getting out of the shower. The scent isn't too strong on the skin, but you can smell it and it does last all day! I like my products to feel really light on the skin so this is perfect for me.

As for the hand products, they get a little less use as I am just not big on hand products! The Olive & Avocado Hand Wash (£8.50) is a milky consistency and washes off easily, leaving your skin feeling soft. The formula for the Cocoa Butter Hand Cream (£6.50) is again, not too thick but it does make your hands feel very silky.

The products are really lovely, very high quality at an affordable price! Make sure to pop in if you're in the area soon. Alternatively, you can have a look at all of their products on their website.

NYX Glitter Primer

Although I found that I didn't need a glue for the Daze Cosmetics glitters, when I got my little hands on some Glitter Eyes, I did think that something stronger was needed. After a recommendation from Tamzin from Through New Eyes, I bought the NYX Glitter Primer from Boots for £8!

There isn't a huge amount to say about this primer, I think the photos pretty much do all the talking for me! As you can see, there is a huge difference between using and not using the primer with the Glitter Eyes glitter. You can see a very similar effect in Tamzin's post as well.

The primer itself goes on very clear and is comfortable on the eye. It's really easy to apply, just squeeze a little bit onto your finger and apply onto the eye. A little bit goes a long way! It is very tacky and the glitter attaches itself to it really well. The glitter stays on for a very long period with this on as well, I can vouch for it lasting a whole night out!

The bottle only holds 10ml, which costs £8. I personally find this a little steep, £8 for 10ml seems a lot, especially for a high street brand. But as I don't wear glitter very often, and you don't need to use a huge amount anyway, the bottle does last a very long time. So I guess it does work out in the long run! I do think that the price tag could be a little lower though, but maybe I'm being a little bit stingy!

And that rounds up my very short review of the Glitter Primer from NYX! Have you ever used it before? Are you a fan? Do you think NYX is a little bit expensive? Let me know!

Hylamide HA Blur

Hylamide HA Blur

A little while back I wrote about my favourite Pore Deleting products which included the Pore Control from Hylamide. Well today, the brand is back with another absolute beauty on G Beauty - the HA Blur. It is available on the Hylamide website but also from places like ASOS and Feel Unique for around £19.

This primer is the absolute dream for us who need hardcore protection throughout the day. The product comes out white, but goes transparent once it has been put on. The formula has a really thick consistency, but does not feel heavy on the skin. Especially once foundation has been put on top of it!

The silky but tacky products lends itself really well to foundation. I have tried it with a couple of different ones, and all of them have worked well with the primer. For example, a favourite of mine is the Estée Lauder Double Wear and I love the combination! Although the Double Wear is a pretty high coverage foundation, I do notice a difference when I use the HA Blur in conjunction with it. The finish is more flawless, my skin feels more hydrated and the foundation lasts that little bit longer in the day.

I have noticed a huge difference with using it with one foundation in particular, which is the L'Orèal True Match. I was struggling a little to keep the foundation on and it keeping it from looking like an oil slick within a couple of hours. I tried a few different primers, including the Benefit POREfessional which usually never lets me down, but it was the HA Blur that actually worked. The foundation sticks to it like a dream, it mattefies the foundation and it lasts a whole lot longer! No oil slick Gweni this Summer!

You can actually use this product under or on top of foundation, but I have personally found it to work better underneath - as it adds that extra moisture barrier. I also think the "blurring" technology in the product works better if it is used underneath foundation as well.

I have been really impressed with the Hylamide products in general. The brand is under the Deciem umbrella company, which has actually just opened up a store in London! I really hope I can visit it at some point. The Ordinary actually comes under Deciem as well, so if you're a fan of their products - I can imagine you will love the Hylamide range as well! The colours that are used for the products are super pretty as well.

Thank you for reading! Have you tried any Hylamide products? Or anything from Deciem? Do let me know!

Buy Sunglasses
If you follow my Instagram stories religiously, you may have noticed that I went abroad a couple of times at the start of July. You may have also noticed me talking about and wearing my new sunglasses, my beaut Boss Orange sunglasses from Perfect Glasses! I have fallen in love with these sunnies and can't wait to share some of my thoughts with you.

The Perfect Sunglasses website has a very wide range of products to chose from, including men's and women's glasses, designer glasses and prescription sunglasses. As my eyesight has decided to deteriorate very quickly and didn't have contact lenses at the time I was going abroad, I really needed some prescription sunglasses to take abroad with me. And I cannot explain to you how much I appreciated them!

There are quite a few different brands to choose from, including big designers such as Dior, Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs, Gucci and Fendi. All of which are discounted! My sunglasses, the Boss Orange (as part of Hugo Boss) were down from £198 to £99! It is the same across the brands, and I've spotted quite a few lovely pairs of Marc Jacobs glasses that I may have to get when I'm earning money! Saying that, there are loads of lovely pairs of normal glasses at a much more affordable price, even as low as £9.
Perfect Glasses Review
Me wearing my Boss Orange sunglasses in Lake Como!
If you're a glasses wearer, you will know how expensive having poor eyesight can be. After my eyesight getting worse 3 times in less than 2 years, I can definitely vouch for that! So the website is great for saving a few quid on frames/sunglasses when you need a new pair.

The sunglasses themselves are lovely. They are very high quality, which you can definitely feel when you're wearing them. The frame is very sturdy and very pretty. I absolutely love the design of the glasses and they really suited my face. They had all of the dimensions of the frames on the website, so I was able to check beforehand to see if I thought the glasses would be too big for my face or not. Thankfully they were not!

I cannot go on about how much I love prescription sunglasses. As I am short sighted, being in big places and visiting places is just a bit of a nightmare without glasses, and even more so if it's bright! I wore them 24/7 when I was abroad, they were particularly great when visiting places throughout the day. It was nice to be able to leave my actual glasses behind!

All in all, I have been really impressed by the website. Not only is there a very wide selection of glasses to chose from, but they are of very high quality too. The sunglasses themselves were sent in very sturdy packaging to protect the glasses too. I suppose this is expected, but it is nice to see that the company really cares about its products and customers.

So if you're looking to get yourself a new pair of specs or sunglasses, designer or not, definitely check out Perfect Glasses. They definitely do have a little something for everyone there. Apart from maybe those lucky few who don't need glasses!!
