Christmas at John Lewis

As you probably already know, I love a good event. So I was pretty excited to get invited to the John Lewis Christmas recently in Birmingham. Not only did I get to see some of my lovely blogger friends, I also got to get a real taste for what John Lewis has to offer this Christmas.

The first thing we were shown were the new Twinkly lights, and I am obsessed. They are essentially Christmas lights on a string that you would typically put on your Christmas tree. But these lights are different. These lights can be connected to an app on your phone! As you can imagine, us bloggers were pretty excited about this! These lights can be configured completely on your phone. You can choose what colours go where, their speed and what time you want the lights on and off. Pretty exciting stuff! They showed us a couple of settings that they had made earlier and some pre-set settings, I personally really liked the rainbow setting!

Next up was the Christmas food selection! Your greedy little g bear was very content with this selection. If you're a keen carb and Prosecco enthusiast, you will love the Prosecco Panetonne! The most delicious bread cake with that little taste of Prosecco. I was also VERY sold on the Prestat Popping Pink Prosecco White Chocolate Truffles, the most beautiful little things! And of course, for all our blogger dreams, the Unicorn Tears Gin was brought out! Definitely a lovely idea for your gin lover.

And of course, my favourite, was the beauty corner! There were a couple of things that caught my eye, the Molton Brown Advent Calendar for one and the Men Rock Beard Care Set another. But it was the Marc Jacobs Christmas selection that really stole the show. The Sex Kitten Christmas Cracker is only £13, which includes a mascara and lipstick, an excellent present for your beauty lover if you're on a budget. The Cats Meow set includes five beautiful Marc Jacobs lipsticks for £37. Or if you're feeling very generous, the On The Prowl set at £99 includes a lipstick, mascara, eyeliner, brow pencil and an eyeshadow palette!

My favourite part of Christmas is the decorations, and John Lewis do not hold back. The Christmas ornaments are so beautiful, I especially love the little glass reindeers. And of course the tree decorations are always a treat to the eye. When I'm earning the big bucks, my tree will definitely be covered in John Lewis. I was particularly drawn to the Maharaja selection, the colours are really vibrant and beautiful. You can buy baubles separately or in sets. It's definitely worth heading to the Christmas floor just to see how beautiful the selection is.

And that brings me to the end of this post.  Obviously there are hundreds of other Christmas goodies that you can fall in love with at John Lewis, but I have covered a few of the highlights for me this year. Hopefully this helps you a little with your Christmas shopping this year! I know it has definitely gotten me in the Christmas spirit!

Thank you for reading! Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? Are you excited for Christmas?

Easy Hairstyles with Anthony John Salons

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to go to the Anthony John salon in Lichfield for some Christmas hair inspiration! The salon itself is situated in the beautiful Heart of the Country Shopping Village of x just outside Lichfield. I got the train from Birmingham, which was around 40 mins, and then a 5 minute taxi from the station.

The village is so beautiful - full of old converted barn buildings. Definitely somewhere to visit for your Christmas shopping! The salon itself was decorated with wood and blue interiors. I particularly loved how it was set out, with two upstairs parts and lovely little communal kitchen. The seats were all designed to be quite isolated from each other for a full hands on customer experience.

Troy was my man of the evening! He showed me how to create beautiful curls with the ghd curlers. These created a really strong curl quickly, as you can see in the photo. I was genuinely impressed by how quickly it was done and I think I'll be asking Santa for my own this Christmas!! These curls were sprayed then brushed out to give the basis of the easy Christmas up dos!

The first look was a simple small beehive look. To do this, you backcomb the crown of the head, except for the very top layer. Then you take a small section of hair from one side, split it into two pieces and twist them around each other, then pin in in place at the back! Then do the exact same on the other side. You can just pop the pins in wherever you want to get the look that you want!

The second look is even simpler. You take one big piece from one side of your hair and you can plait or twist it and then just pin to the other side of your head. I think Troy twisted mine. Simples!

Then the final look, which is my favourite, is probably the easiest of all but looks the most complicated. This is simply, twist and grip. Twist your piece of hair up to your head, then pop it in place with a bobby pin! Do the same with all of your hair and voilĂ ! I will definitely be trying this the next time I have left enough time to get ready!

All in all, I had a really lovely experience at the salon and I learnt about how easy it is to make your hair look pretty with minimal effort. Hope it provides a little bit of inspiration for your Christmas parties this year!
