As somewhat of a makeup hoarder, I have had to rethink a few things when it comes to beauty storage. I have managed to hold myself back from buying new makeup over the last year, mostly because apparently food and heating are quite expensive? And because I already own far too much. There are quite a few options out there for you on how to store your beauty products and I thought I would share with you some of my favourite ways of storing my products!
For storing my brushes and pencil products, I am a huge sucker for clear cups. I have a few clear acrylic pen holders from Amazon and at the moment I am loving my little cups from TK Maxx. I love the size of these, I can fit quite a few brushes in and you can easily find the brush you're looking for! I am not sure if they sell the exact same ones now, but I doubt you would struggle finding something similar at TK Maxx. If not, B&M Bargains is great for things like this.
Which brings me to my next little storage idea, which are the lovely little jars from B&M Bargains that I keep my cotton buds in. As I wear winged eyeliner every time I wear makeup, me and cotton buds have a pretty strong bond. These jars really are the cutest.
Next up is my makeup organiser - another beauty from TK Maxx. I think I paid around £16 for this around a year ago. I haven't been in since to see if they still have them, but I have seen things similar there a few times! These organisers really do help me keep things right in front of me and not just all over my dressing table. Again, following the clear and acrylic theme (classic blogger cliché).
My lipstick organiser has been a solid favourite for me for years, and you can even go and read a baby Gweni blogpost on it here! I have a feeling the company I bought it from went bust, but you can definitely get hold of similar ones elsewhere! Pretty sure Amazon sell similar ones. I went through a pretty expensive phase of buying MAC lipsticks every five minutes, so this lipstick holder is pretty much my saviour when coming to try and find the one I'm looking for.
However, it really is my dressing table that is queen of my beauty storage. When I moved into my new flat this year, I wanted to make sure I had a nice dressing table to do my makeup at. I did a fair bit of research and fell in love with the Malm dressing table from Ikea. At the moment it retails at £79. The drawer is so big that I have somehow managed to fit ALL of my makeup palettes in it. And I have faaaar too many palettes, as you can see from the picture!
As I am lucky enough to live by myself, I have a lot of space to myself. But one other storage idea is the option of using external storage. Big Yellow Self Storage is now offering small storage lockers, which are ideal for storing away your products that you don't use very often! The small storage lockers provide a good alternative to having to pay for a whole big storage room. They have a minimum of 7 days as well, ideal for short term storage. There are so many Big Yellow storage points across the country as well, pretty handy for us who move around a lot. My plans are very much in the air after I finish my postgrad, so it is likely that I will be making use of the Big Storage small storage come June.
PHEW. Big well done to you if you read all of that post! I hope you got a little insight into how I store my ridiculous collection of beauty products. Thank you for reading.
Love, Gweni xxx
