Over the last couple of months, I've been having SO much fun testing out these lipsticks. I've been seriously impressed by them and looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you all.
I was kindly given 9 shades of the Only 1 Matte lipsticks from Rimmel London. They have a selection of different toned nudes as well as your bright, bold colours. I've found myself reaching for the nudes much more often than the bold colours, especially for university/day time.
I have been particularly impressed by the formula. It is really creamy and applies really easily. The lipstick smells of watermelon, I think, which is a bit random but I've grown to quite like it. Rimmel have really nailed the creamy formula but matte finish. It really does look flawless on the lips and is so comfortable to wear all day. It lasts really well as well, I never wear lip liners with it. Obviously, it does wear off if you drink and eat - but I have found that it has stays on the lip better than some other, more expensive lipsticks.
Like mentioned before, the nudes are my favourites. 700/Trendsetter is essentially a dupe for Velvet Teddy and this has been my go to lipstick on many occasions. I love a muted brown nude! The other nude I've really been enjoying is 200/Salute, a pinky nude. Both of these are so easy to wear on a daily basis, would definitely recommend them if you're looking for a new nude. For a bit more of a dusky pink, 610/High Flier is gorgeous.
If you're looking for some brighter, bolder pinks - 110/Leader of the Pink and 120/Call the Shots are so pretty. I feel as though I'm really going to love 110 when spring comes around, it's such a pretty light colour. 120 is a much brighter pink that reminds me a lot of Impassion from MAC. I really need to wear it on a night out!
No collection is complete without a red, and this one has two. 500/Take the Stage is a lovely bright pinky red and 810/The Matte Factor is a darker red. Both of them are great for wearing a bold red lip, something that I am a big fan of. I recently wore 500 for a night out and it lasted really well. I did have to reapply, apparently drinking too much will do that to a girl's lipstick, but it didn't look too horrendous. The lipsticks are pigmented enough that they don't completely rub off while drinking.
The last lipsticks, 800/Run the Show and 750/Look Who's Talking are the two that I haven't had much wear out of. 800 is really similar to Heroine from MAC and is a really beautiful purple colour. As purple isn't a colour that most of us wear on a daily basis, this lipstick does provide a cheaper alternative for us who want an occasional purple lip but don't want to break the bank. 750 is a pretty dark shade, I got a lot of use out of it in the Autumn months but I feel it's a little too bold for me now!
Out of the nine lipsticks I was given, there isn't a single one that I wouldn't be able to wear. I've been really impressed with the formula, especially as I've always found high-street lipsticks to be hit or miss. The lipsticks look lovely on the lips and I'm looking forward to getting more use out of them!
What do you think? Do you like the lipsticks? Have you tried them?
Thank you for reading!
Love, Gweni xxx
